I’ve been thinking a lot about balance this year. For so long it has felt elusive: I have been fortunate to be rich in joy, but poor in sleep, for instance. I have felt lucky to have work land on my desk but overwhelmed by the lack of time to do it in. There have been times when I have the privilege of eight hours of childcare, stretching out ahead of me, and left with a brain so distracted that I can’t fully concentrate on anything.
When moments of balance have arrived, they have felt increasingly precious. Those mornings that feel fresh and rested, when we are all quietly reading our books - if only for 24 seconds. When the house is clean enough and there is a pocket of time to lean into. When I am on top of the inbox enough to feel creatively present.
Moving my body has helped a lot with this. A few weeks ago,
, yoga coach and writer, came over and gently encouraged to put my body into gentle shapes and it felt like cracking open a window that had been painted shut. Over lunch (cobbled together leftovers), we plotted. We wanted to bring our work together in a living, breathing way. In person, off the screen: yoga, movement, writing, balance, practice. I’m pleased to say we can finally reveal the details:savour sessions x balance practice: summer edition
Date and time: 9-11am on Saturday, 8th June
Location: Chelsea Physic Garden, 66 Royal Hospital Rd, London SW3 4HS
Tickets: Free for paying savour and
yoga, writing, balance
This accessible event is open to those looking to slow down, breathe deeply and pay attention to create space and gain understanding.
The event will consist of two parts: a gentle and inspiring movement class from Erin, followed by a short creative guidance and writing workshop from Alice. This session has been created with the intention of finding balance and creativity ahead of the expanse and energy of summer, to explore how we can use yoga as a creative beginning to our writing, and writing as a means of harnessing our attention.
If the weather is good, we’ll practice outdoors, in either case there will be time to explore the beautiful Chelsea Physic Gardens afterwards.
Please bring your own yoga mat and journal.
Tea and coffee will be provided.
Please note this event will be photographed for use on Alice and Erin’s platforms.
Tickets: a limited number of tickets are free for paying members of our communities — scroll down to book.
