It’s a funny thing, leaving the country in mid-April and returning a week into May. Spring takes such a seismic hold of London, tricking us with warm February days and autumnal Aprils. A Californian friend who lives here now text while we were away - ‘London is covered in flowers it feels like’ - and I felt a pang for our narrow streets, our blossom-choked drain covers beneath the deep Utah skies.
