I had grand plans for this, the last savourites before I take a little hiatus from savour for the rest of the summer. I’d drafted it out with bullet points, I’d been chewing on it all week. Then the baby got a temperature and plans went awry and he spent a good chunk of yesterday sleeping on me (not his usual vibe) in front of Jewish Matchmaker (very much mine) and here I am, on scant sleep and a bit of a hangover (we had friends over) and, well, life got in the way.
So it made sense to dedicate a savourites to life getting in the way. Sometimes the laundry gets rained on, sometimes tea is black because there’s no milk - usually when you need a reminder that black tea is actually quite refreshing and delicious, and perhaps you could be the kind of person who drinks it this way all the time? Sometimes you leave your umbrella behind or the book you’re reading on the Tube and it means you pick up something else, instead. Sometimes you only decide to go to the party at the last minute and end up meeting the love of your life. It’s hackneyed, but it happened to me.
