I have spent years working on things that are published quickly and disappear as fast: reviews written on the Tube home from a gig for tomorrow’s chip paper, live blogs, features magicked out of an 8am conference and on the internet by tea-time. Increasingly, though, I am slowing down. Books take years to grow, shrugging off their nervous, nascent little idea-casing until they sit tremulously (perhaps one day I will have a non-tremulous book, who knows) on a shelf or in a window, waiting to be read. But other things, too: interviews for monthly mags happen whole seasons before they hit the stands. On Sunday, I’ll be announcing something that began back in November - keep an eye on my Instagram for more. This week I did A New Thing - a real first - and I won’t be chatting about it until at least February. It was scary and fun and I’ve definitely had at least four small crises about how well I did it since. I wonder if I’ll have forgotten those by the time it comes out.
Anyway, to more current matters. Good things this week that may stop you from endlessly refreshing Twitter.
