Ah Alice I’ve missed your missives. My Substack notification number exceeded 50, and it’s just been ‘parked’ as my family and work life has consumed me. Finally taking some time to read Substack and, as will always be the case, yours is the account I greedily feast on first. I’m not fully versed on all that I’ve missed yet but feel I want to connect and comment. What has leapt out at me here is Tiny Breakfast Executive 🤣 and the wonderful Stokke Tripp Trapp chair bringing him back to yours and M’s table. An uncle who lives in Germany sent this chair to my sister for her children, and it has served both of mine too. What a marvellous invention. That brought back memories. Speaking of ‘memories’, I woke up to an email notification this week of someone having ‘liked’ my comment to you on ‘Memory’ and that was really nice. Ok, TTFN 👋 keep writing and doing what you do so purely and brilliantly. Maria x
Hi Maria! Delicious to have you back in the comments. I get you on substack overwhelm, think there's a lot of it around - I actually turned on smart notifications so I could read them either in the app or in my inbox, but mostly just in the app, which has made things easier. We love the Tripp Trapp! xx
All of this (as usual) is a delight. Wonderful. Especially the northern lights. I follow an aurora notification on twitter (always twitter, will never be X) and got the magic notification of “red alert - aurora likely” a while back.
Having had one of these before and been thwarted by living in a valley, I quickly bundled all willing members of the household into the car with the fervour of a storm hunter. We drove ten minutes up to the highest point around, determined not to be caught out again and found a gathering of folks the likes we had not seen since the Tour de France passed through the same spot years earlier (and even then on TV I think as we knew it would be a popular spot). Finally managing to park on the edge where the road meets moors we got out and looked up. The skies didn’t dance like I expected them to, as I imagine was your view, but instead a gentle Phillip Pullman inspired poetry in the sky. The hint of portals to other worlds. Or, if more your thing, a weak bi-frost (for the Marvel fans). It was pure magic and one I was reluctant to leave. I’m so glad you got to l see it in full glory!
Sharing this as a note too to encourage anyone not familiar to read Savourites as it is one of (if not my most) favourite things on Substack. X

This is all such a treat, Alice. Thank you. I'm thrilled you saw the Aurora. That Tate exhibition looks wonderful. Tiny breakfast executive. xx
TBE continues to start the day with a series of orders xx
